Expanded Multiplication
The process for expanded multiplication is very similar to the process of expanded addition and expanded subtraction. When solving multiplication problems using expanded form, you give each digit a value based on its position within the number.
Expanded form--> 874 = 800 + 70 + 4
Expanded form--> 874 = 800 + 70 + 4
Find the product of 48 and 9 using expanded multiplication.
Multiplying a combination of numbers by a 1 digit number will result in several products being added together.
